Lu Mei: Middle Corridor gains importance in China-Azerbaijan cooperation

“The Middle Corridor plays an important role in developing transport and logistics cooperation between Azerbaijan and China,” said Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei as she addressed the reception marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The ambassador said freight volumes transported via the China-Europe Railway Express through Azerbaijan and the Caspian Sea are expected to double this year.

“Our cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative is delivering tangible benefits to our peoples,” Lu Mei emphasized.

She also highlighted Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev’s participation in the Global Sustainable Transport Forum in China and the signing of an Intergovernmental Agreement on international road transport between Azerbaijan and China, saying it would give fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation.
