13th meeting of CICA Think Tank Forum discusses role of women and youth amid global challenges
A side event was held as part of the 13th meeting of the CICA Think Tank Forum, themed “Resonance of Development and Security: Regional Cooperation and Governance in the Institutional Transformation of CICA” in Baku.
The session, moderated by Cao Jiahan, Senior Researcher at the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies, focused on the topic “Formation of a New Asian Order.”
Roza Bayramli, Leading Consultant at the Center for the Analysis of International Relations, highlighted the role of women in building inclusive and sustainable societies, stressing the importance of their active involvement in generating and implementing new ideas.
Madina Igibayeva, Expert on Military and Political Issues at the CICA Secretariat, underlined Asia’s growing role in global affairs, noting that the continent’s evolving landscape creates opportunities for deeper cooperation among major powers. She emphasized that women’s contributions are vital in shaping the new order and highlighted the importance of inclusive governance as a pillar of societal well-being.
Xu Guangmiao, Associate Professor at East China Normal University, addressed the role of women in science and research. She pointed out the underrepresentation of female professors, describing it as a systemic issue linked to the limited visibility and recognition of their work. She suggested that actively publicizing the achievements of female scientists, particularly through social media, is a crucial step toward reducing gender disparities in academia. The speakers also stressed the importance of creating opportunities for female researchers to participate in international projects, as this would advance both scientific progress and the achievement of global Sustainable Development Goals.
Other participants emphasized the importance of youth engagement in societal development. They noted that fostering entrepreneurship among women and young people is a strategic necessity for driving both economic and social progress.
