“Azerbaijan has lifted restrictions on the transit of goods through its territory to Armenia from various directions, including Russia, following an initiative by the President as a goodwill gesture. This measure is aimed at reinforcing regional trust and promoting the expansion of economic and transport-logistics connections,” said Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev in his remarks at the 24th session of the Intergovernmental Commission.

Mustafayev noted that approximately 26,000 tons of cargo—mainly wheat and fertilizers—have been transported from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijan. He added that the 2024–2026 roadmap is progressing successfully and that Russia remains a key trade partner.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that bilateral trade between Azerbaijan and Russia exceeded $4.9 billion in 2025 and reached about $750 million in the first quarter of this year. He emphasized that agricultural products play a key role, with exports to Russia exceeding $837 million, fruit and vegetable supplies increasing by 31% to $696 million, and imports surpassing $832 million.
