Baku-hosted forum highlights development of regional energy connectivity and green transition

A panel session titled "Regional Energy Connectivity and Green Transition: Challenges and Opportunities" was held on the sidelines of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum.

The session featured discussions on the development of regional energy connectivity and green transition, attracting investments in renewable energy projects and strengthening energy security.

The panel session was moderated by Alessandro Viviani, Associate Partner at TEHA Group.

Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov highlighted the country's role in strengthening regional energy connectivity and energy security among the South Caucasus, Europe, and Central Asia.

He also provided insight into renewable energy and green infrastructure projects.

Speakers included Orkhan Zeynalov, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Energy, Elmir Musayev, General Director of SOCAR Green, Luca Matrone, Head of Energy Industry for Global Corporate at Italy’s Intesa Sanpaolo, Xiansheng Sun, Chairman of ISETS Council of China, Ahmet Çalık, Chairman of Türkiye’s Çalık Holding, and Tural Aliyev, General Director of Green Corridor Alliance LLC.

The discussions also revolved around the establishment of favorable policy and regulatory frameworks to attract investment in renewable energy and green infrastructure projects, as well as the expansion of opportunities regarding technology, equipment, and financing for the implementation of these projects.

The event highlighted the importance of developing cross-border energy projects, including the transmission of green electricity and the integration of regional energy markets.

The session also focused on protecting energy security and industrial competitiveness amid the accelerating green transition, as well as expanding the strategic partnership with Italy in the fields of energy and green transition.
