Vladimir Putin: OANA makes a significant contribution to the development of journalism and media

A media forum of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the organization, is underway in Moscow.

Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary to the President of the Russian Federation, read out a message of greeting from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the forum participants.

"The organization makes a significant contribution to the development of journalism and mass media, and is rightfully considered one of the most influential and largest regional media associations," Vladimir Putin's greeting stated. The Russian President expressed hope that the meeting in Moscow would contribute to strengthening business and personal contacts, as well as consolidating the media community based on the values of high-quality, objective, and professional journalism.

Speaking at the opening of the media forum, Dmitry Peskov noted that global news agencies today face unprecedented challenges related both to the rapid pace of technological development and to the ongoing transformation of the global economy, politics, and the system of international relations.

According to him, one of the consequences of these processes has been information warfare and an increase in the number of information operations. "News agencies perform a very important task, a very important job, in fighting lies that are now very frequently spread across global information flows," the Press Secretary to the Russian President emphasized.
