Uzbekistan and Singapore Deepen Economic Ties with New Agreements
TASHKENT, August 28 – The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, attended a bilateral document signing ceremony held during the official visit of the Senior Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong.The key outcomes of the meeting include:Free Trade Regime: Uzbekistan and Singapore signed a milestone document to launch negotiations on establishing a free trade regime. This initiative opens up new prospects for expanding mutual trade and improving market access conditions for both nations.Special Economic Zones: Partnerships were finalized with the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise. The collaboration aims to develop special economic zones across Uzbekistan by leveraging Singapore’s world-class experience and expertise.Food Industry Expansion: A major agreement was signed in the food sector involving Wilmar International and Indorama. The project entails setting up vegetable oil production and processing facilities in the Tashkent region, which will subsequently support the development of animal feed production and poultry farming.
