Int’l conference on Media and Communication Activities in Digital Age kicks off in Baku

The opening ceremony of the international conference themed "Media and Communication Activities in the Digital Age," dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, is being held in Baku, according to AZERTAC.

The event was jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU) and Türkiye's UskUdar University, with the partnership of Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency, Audiovisual Council, and Press Council.

The three-day conference aims to discuss the human, social, political, and cultural impacts of the transformation of media production and consumption processes through digitalization. The conference, which will thoroughly discuss the essence of this transformation, its effects on the media ecosystem, and its global consequences, is intended to make a significant contribution to research in the field of communication and media.

On the first day of the conference, 48 presentations will be heard across 7 sections on topics including "Media and Society in the Digital Age," "Artificial Intelligence, Media and Society," "Media and Communication Research in the Digital Age," "Advertising and Marketing in the Digital Age," "History of Journalism," "Artificial Intelligence, Media and Visual Culture," and "Digital Transformation and Media."

Nearly 300 articles and about 100 theses have been accepted for the conference. During the event, 19 live and up to 24 online panel discussions on various aspects of media are planned.

As part of the conference, the opening of the National Press History Auditorium at BSU's Faculty of Journalism will be held as part of the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, along with presentation ceremonies for a special issue of the Baku University newspaper and the newly established Media Problems journal by the faculty.
