Baku hosts international conference on circular green tourism in CICA countries

An international conference on "Circular Green Tourism in the CICA Countries" is being held in Baku, jointly organized by the State Tourism Agency and the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
In addition to the CICA Secretariat, delegations from member states, including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Mongolia, India, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and Palestine, are participating in the conference.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Fuad Naghiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, stated that "circular green tourism" stands out as one of the current approaches defining the future development direction of the tourism sector. He noted that crucial steps have been taken in Azerbaijan towards the sustainable development of tourism, the formation of ecotourism and agritourism sectors, and the development of nature-based tourism routes. Fuad Naghiyev also emphasized that the conference will contribute to strengthening cooperation and building new partnerships among CICA countries.
CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay highlighted in his speech that the "Circular Green Tourism in the CICA Countries" initiative contributes to the development of sustainable and environmentally responsible tourism in the region. The Secretary General emphasized that tourism is not only an economic sector but also an important platform for cultural dialogue and confidence-building. He pointed out that this conference, as the final stage of the project, is significant for presenting results and sharing best practices.
The discussions within the framework of the conference will cover the creation of tourism villages, support mechanisms for local initiatives, grant programs, training activities, and the creation of new opportunities for local communities through investments in nature-based tourism products.
