Ambassador emphasizes importance of prompt implementation of Dushanbe agreements
At the initiative of the Azerbaijani side, a meeting was held between Rahman Mustafayev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation, and Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
During the meeting, the Ambassador presented a copy of the congratulatory letter addressed by Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov to Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov on the occasion of the upcoming New Year. The parties discussed the current state of Azerbaijan-Russia relations and reviewed the political outcomes of 2025.
Ambassador Rahman Mustafayev noted that the outgoing year had been overshadowed by the tragic crash of an AZAL passenger aircraft in December 2024. In this light, he described the October 9 meeting between the two presidents in Dushanbe as a significant step toward normalizing bilateral relations.
The Ambassador also stressed the importance of implementing the agreements reached between the leaders in Dushanbe as soon as possible. He specifically highlighted Russian President Vladimir Putin's assurance that, in such tragic incidents, the Russian side would take all necessary measures regarding compensation and ensure a fair legal evaluation of the actions of all responsible officials.
The view that no procedural decision can substitute for or override the fulfillment of the directives outlined in the Russian President's statement was positively received.
